What is ISO/IEC 17025?

ISO/IEC 17025 was first issued in 1999 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It is the single most important standard for calibration and testing laboratories around the world. Laboratories that are accredited to this international standard have demonstrated that they are technically competent and able to produce precise and accurate test and/or calibration data.

What does ISO IEC 17025 mean?

ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard that sets out the general requirements for the competent, impartial, and consistent operation of laboratories. Its purpose is to promote confidence in the operation of laboratories and to ensure their technical competence. The standard was first published in 1999, and has been updated several times since then. The most recent version was published in 2017. The standard is important for many reasons. First, it helps laboratories to provide accurate and reliable results.

What are ISO IEC standards?

In order to create an international standard, there are usually three organizations involved: the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the European Commission (EC).

EN standards are usually ISO or IEC standards that the European Commission has harmonized. All of these organizations work together to maintain global trade, safety, and compatibility.

Why is ISO 17025 important?

ISO 17025 certification is an important standard for laboratories because it confirms their ability to produce accurate and precise test results and calibration data.

This standard is maintained by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the European Commission (EC).

This makes it easier for businesses to trust the results of their tests and calibrations, and helps to maintain global trade, safety, and compatibility.

How long does an ISO 17025 certificate last?

The accreditation process of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is a three-year cycle. The certificate is valid for three years, and the laboratory must be re-assessed at the end of that period to maintain their accreditation. Annual surveillance visits are also conducted to ensure the laboratory is still meeting the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Why is lab accreditation important?

Accreditation of labs improves facilitation of accurate and rapid diagnostics, efficiency of treatment and reduction of errors in the laboratory process. Accreditation is not about who the best is, but who has a system of standard procedures with aim to improve the quality and patient safety.

How to Obtain NABL Accreditation?

BMQR conducts gap analysis and advice the lab to close.BMQR also conducts various trainings such as awareness ,Internal auditor,MU.

The client is then asked to complete PT/ILC ,Calibration and MU calculation.

Once all implementation work is completed BMQR helps the Lab to register their details in NABL portal. After the successful audit, the lab will receive NABL accreditation .The accreditation is valid for two years.
